Now is the time to take the LEAD with a professional development opportunity for those working at Meridian Community College. MCC is committed to building strong leaders in all areas of the College. By focusing exclusively on our employees, we can concentrate on important skills such as communication, leadership, and team building that can improve our college and create opportunities for personal growth and success.

Leadership skills! Participants in the E.L.C. Institute will:

  • Identify critical leadership skills that can help take you to the next step in your career.
  • Collaborate with and learn from the College's executive leadership team as we discuss the opportunities facing MCC.
  • Engage in professional relationships and exchange ideas with other campus leaders.
  • Expand your perspectives and learn strategies that can help you work and build relationships across campus.

Program Structure

The E.L.C. includes instruction and mentoring over a period of 9 months* (August through May) with up to 10 colleagues from across campus.

The format will include:

  • Orientation in August where participants will learn about different leadership styles and review individual results of a strengths finder assessment.
  • Eight on-campus meetings (once a month from September to May, the first Tuesday of every month) to include presentations on such topics as:
    • Foundations of Leadership
    • Diversity and Inclusion
    • Communication Strategies
    • Customer Service and Conflict Resolution
    • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
    • Crisis and Meeting Management
    • Building Relationships and Teams
    • Legal Issues and Human Resources
    • College Operations and Organization
  • A final group project focused on identifying a College need with a fully developed program/solution will be the highlight.

Program Incentives 

·         Lunch and morning and afternoon snacks

·         Course material

·         Leadership Book, to be chosen by President

·         Official E.L.C. polo-style shirt

·         Medallion and certificate at graduation 

·         $500 stipend at the completion of the program

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible participants must have worked at least one year as a full-time employee at Meridian Community College and have demonstrated commitment to personal and leadership growth, collaboration, and innovation.
