Summer STEAM 2023

Summer STEAM Camp features robotics using LEGO® Education, STEAM Education, and Action Based Learning. Campers will explore STEAM Education and engage in hands-on learning with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math in addition to the WEEKLY THEMES. Campers will explore building and programming robots using LEGO® elements, Digital Literacy, and Creative ARTS! Campers will experience mechanical design, construction, and teamwork using technology. Registration is now open! Disclaimer: Camp sessions are for one week in duration and Full Day. Parents may enroll or re-enroll for more than one session based on availability during the weekly camp sessions.

Summer STEAM Camp Schedule * Campers will discover the engineering design process through STEAM Education utilizing a curriculum that features hands-on approaches to learning. *

Week 1* June 12th - 16th *Bridge Builders- Campers will explore how to use scale drawings for bridges and objects larger and smaller. Campers will figure out how to use ratios to find the scale of their original image and that of the final product - a bridge.

Week 2* June 20th - June 23rd* (Closed on Monday) Circuits -Campers will learn basic circuits to light up LEDs, control them with buttons and switches, and explore electronics and their parts. Campers will get an introduction to electronics and how they work! They will learn how electricity is a way of controlling things using tiny currents.

LEGO Robotics is Full

Week 5 *July 17th - 21st is FULL * Coding with Dash & DOT - Campers will explore coding and the programmable language for game design, art, and digital media. Using programming icons, campers will create their own interactive stories and animations.

Week 6*July 24th - July 28th - is FULL (Simple Machines * Campers will discover why inventors created simple machines. They will research famous inventors of the past and develop future inventions. Campers will apply real-world applications to construct catapults and forts. They will use the Engineering Design Process to test and improve their creations.

Field Trips are included: Palmetto Island Park * Stars and Strikes Bowling* Indoor & Outdoor Swim at the Mount Pleasant Recreation Center and Splash Island Water Park.
