Code of Conduct

Machane Aviv is the main event for the end of the year of Hanhagat Tzabar’s yearly
program. We expect about 1000 Chanichim from 10 shvatim from the west coast.
This Code of Conduct was written in order to maintain a friendly, pleasant, and
respectful environment throughout camp. The goal of this document is to clarify the
expectations of each participant during camp schedule, to establish what lines are not
to be crossed, and what will be the immediate disciplinary ramifications after crossing
one or more of these ethical codes.
parents sign that they have read the instructions and agreed to act accordingly.
● parents will sign on behalf of their children.

Drugs and alcohol:

1. I pledge to observe the laws of the State of California and am aware that my
transgression of the law requires the administrators of Tzabar to report to the
police and to my parents immediately.
2. I am aware that the consumption, purchase, supply or sale of drugs, including
marijuana, antidepressants and various medications, is prohibited and will lead
to an immediate expulsion from camp grounds and a probation term regarding
the annual Tzofim activities.
3. I am aware that anyone who possesses any alcoholic drinks (including beer)
will be expelled from all activities while making immediate contact with
his/hers parents.
4. I am aware that the possession and/or use of any of the items mentioned
above would result in my immediate expulsion from camp and will also impact
the future of my activities in the Shevet and within Hanhagat Tzabar.
5. I am aware that being caught around other people who uses one of the
above will result the same way as using it myself.

Smoking:
6. I pledge not to use any kind of smoking device, regardless of age - including the
purchase and/or possession of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, vaping devices,
hookahs, smoking accessories (rolling paper, tobacco) and more. Acquisition,
use or possession will lead to disciplinary treatment and exclusion from all
camp activities.
7. I am aware that being caught around other people who uses one of the
above will result the same way as using it myself.

Participants' behaviour:
8. I pledge not to use physical or verbal violence throughout camp grounds and
am aware that every case of violence will be handled by the senior staff in
severity.
9. I pledge to preserve the dignity of my friends and the senior staff in camp, and
to treat each other with respect.
10. I pledge to remain on camp ground and not leave the framework of
organized activity.
11. Visiting the nurse will be approved by the Merakez.

Sexual behaviour:
12. I fully understand that I cannot have sex throughout camp and have to
protect the privacy all camp participants- my bunkmates in particular.
13. I pledge to maintain a safe space (proper language, mutual respect,
acceptance, clothing without a violent inscription, etc.) in which every chanich
and chanicha feels protected in relation to their identity and sexuality.
14. I am aware that the clothing in most camp days is full khaki. Participants are
required to dress respectably at all times.

Protection of property and other camp rules:
15. I am aware that all the valuable equipment I bring to camp is at my full
responsibility and I pledge not to take or temper with property that does not
belong to me.
16. I pledge to maintain the integrity and cleanliness of camp property including
all the equipment I use.
17. I am aware that cases of camp expulsion will be fully funded by my parents.

I understand that any infringement of camp rules, including violence, sexual activity or
the possession/use of drugs or alcohol will lead to immediate expulsion from camp,
“on probation” participation in future Hanhaga events (next year’s Machane, Machane
Tzababa etc.) and removal from Shevet activities. Furthermore, I understand that if an
incident, not specified here, occurs – examination and handling of each case will be at
the discretion of Rosh Shevet and Merzkez Shevet.
