Papyrus Training on Suicide Awareness

Knowing what to say – when someone is suicidal

Few of us know what to say when someone tells us that they feel suicidal. For most staff, receiving this kind of disclosure from a student, or a colleague, will often raise uncomfortable feelings and anxieties about managing the situation safely.

This briefing session, delivered in an interactive lecture format, will provide awareness of the prevalence of suicide, will challenge any misconceptions that perpetuate stigma and mostly importantly provide information on signposting to services internally and externally.

The session will be delivered by Papyrus, a national organisation which:

  • Provides confidential help and advice to young people and anyone worried about someone
  • Helps others to prevent suicide by working with and training professionals
  • Campaigns and influences national policy

Training is in 30 minute slots available either on Tuesday 12 February or Wednesday 20 February  and on both days you will be able to choose from three morning session times and four afternoon session times as follows:
