Into the Fields Internship Program Application 2013

Instructions

This is an online application form. Before submitting this form, you may download a sample pdf version of the application to review the questions and prepare for submitting to the online form. You will not be able to save and return to the online form, so taking the time to prepare in advance is important. You can download the SAMPLE ITF Application form from SAF's website: http://www.saf-unite.org/content/fields-internship

This application form will be used by SAF to determine your eligibility, skills and interests for the program. In order to fully complete your application to the ITF Internship program, you must complete the following 3 application components:

(1) Complete this online application form, uploading an essay and resume. Please email ramon.zepeda@duke.edu once you have submitted the form so we can confirm we have received it.

(2) Have a professor/professional complete the Spanish Language Evaluation form available on the SAF website. Native speakers are waived.

(3) Pay the $20 application fee with your credit or debit card at https://www.z2systems.com/np/clients/saf/donation.jsp?campaign=14 or by mailing a check to SAF, 1317 W. Pettigrew St., Durham, NC 27705.

CAMP Students: You are required to pay the application fee, however your CAMP Program may cover the fee or reimburse you. Please discuss this directly with your CAMP Director. If they do not agree to pay, you are responsible for the application fee.

UNC APPLES Students: The application fee is waived.

Geographic Location

The majority of placements are in North Carolina, but about 1/3 are in other Southeastern states including SC, VA & TN. Essay

Using 1-2 pages (250-500 words), explain your personal interest in, and qualifications for working with farmworkers. Please attach your essay as a word document along with your application form. Save the file name using this format: First Initial dot Last Name Essay (example: L.Haynes Essay.doc) Be sure to answer the following questions:

Why are you interested in participating in the farmworker movement?
What related experience do you have that qualifies you to work with farmworkers?
Describe a time when you had to take initiative on a project and work independently. What did you enjoy about that experience and what was challenging?
